What is The Big Funky Blues Fest?

1 Day, 8 Bands, Tons of Vendors, Fun for the Whole Family!

Garrett County’s SECOND ANNUAL Big Funky Blues Festival will be held on Saturday, July 13th at the Garrett County Fairgrounds! The gates will open at 10:00 a.m., and will run until 9:00 p.m. in the evening. This special event is brought to you by OMG Relax, a relaxing gift shop and Medical Breakthrough massage spa, located in the heart of Garrett County. This year, a portion of each ticket will benefit Appalachian Crossroads, a local non-profit empowering individuals with disabilities to contribute to the community. Through community living, employment support and the day services offered, these individuals may choose lives rich with meaning, friendship and inclusivity.

Browse the many amazing, local crafters and artisans that will be set up outdoors, surrounding the main stage. There will also be axe throwing, glass blowing, blacksmithing, as well as an enormous kid’s zone! Check out everything we have to offer in the Big Funky Kids Zone! Remember, Mom and Dad ~ Kids 12 and under are FREE!!
 
Enjoy a short walk to the food court, featuring a large array of incredible, mouthwatering food and desserts! Beer and wine and a large selection of non-alcoholic drinks will be available as well.
 
Bring chairs and/or blankets, and get comfortable! Pop up canopies will be permitted, however placement will be restricted to a designated area. Plan as you would for any outdoor festival.
 
Please note: Pets are not permitted on the fairgrounds. Upon entry, each person will be given a wristband. As long as you are wearing the wristband, it is hasn’t been tampered with, you will be able to leave and re-enter the entrance gate.

Hambone Wilson (Bruceton Mills,West Virginia), is a dynamic guitarist and soulful vocalist, best known for his twangy, pedal-to-the-metal licks. Billy Price Band

2016 Blues Music Award (BMA) Winner and frequent BMA nominee Billy Price first attracted national attention during his three-year association with guitarist Roy Buchanan. Price is the vocalist on two of Buchanan's LPs, That's What I'm Here For and Live Stock. Since then, with the Keystone Rhythm Band, the Billy Price Band, and solo projects, Billy Price has recorded and released a total of 20 albums, CDs, and DVDs. Price’s album This Time for Real, with the late Chicago soul singer Otis Clay, received a 2016 Blues Music Award in the category of best soul blues album. He received BMA nominations in 2019 (Reckoning) and 2020 (Dog Eat Dog) for best soul blues album, and in 2020, 2022, and 2023 for best male soul blues artist. In 2022, he released a 3-CD compilation retrospective of his career on GetHip Recordings titled 50+ Years of Soul. The Billy Price Band, based in Billy’s hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa., consists of Dave Dodd (drums), Tom Valentine (bass), Lenny Smith (guitar), Jim Britton (keyboards), Eric Spaulding (sax), and Joe Herndon (trumpet). They won the Pittsburgh City Paper Reader’s Poll in 2021 and 2022 as the top blues band in the city.

Tommy Lepson and the Bad Dawgs

Singer Tommy Lepson, is nationally recognized as a Hammond organist, songwriter, guitarist and engineer. He is a member of the WAMA Hall of Fame as well as being the recipient of multiple WAMMIEs (Washington Area Music Awards). His gritty and flexible R & B voice is capable of conjuring images of James Brown one moment and Sam Cooke the next.

Expanding now to include producing festivals, artists, as an arranger and as a sought after educator/mentor/master classes/creative coach while nonstop gigging around the globe and playing with stellar musicians everywhere. She now lives in the desert and the road keeps comin'....

(PRS Guitars) Paul Reed Smith's Eightlock Band

"Paul Reed Smith Eightlock” is a band of high-level musicians who are friends and have “locked” together recording and performing a new kind of groove with its roots in Baltimore funk, and New Orleans swing. The excitement around this “3 drummer groove” is infectious. The band’s first CD will be released in December of 2023. The line-up is three drummers, a bass player, female singer and three guitar players. They are: Mia Samone- “Must hear” new Baltimore voice Gary Grainger- Bass, John Scofield/George Duke/Bill Evans Greg Grainger- Drummer, Whitney Houston/Acoustic Alchemy/Kim Waters.
